Every day, every minute 500 hours of footage is uploaded to YouTube, 450,000 tweets are published on Twitter, and 2.5 million posts on Facebook. His co-founder Mark Zuckerberg once promised that Facebook would share everything with everyone, but it turned out to be completely different. The Internet is not as neutral, democratic and free as it seems to us. Thousands of content moderators in the Philippines day by day decide what appears and what is not on social media. It is they who accept or reject the films and photos we publish. And while it is difficult to argue with the need to monitor all images of violence, in all other spaces such censorship seems to be debatable. And certainly, a lot of doubts may arise from the case of Los Angeles artist Illmy Gore, who wanted to put a naked Donald Trump on Facebook with a small penis, but decided to remove it from the network because it worsened the image of the American president. What's more, Gore's Facebook account has been closed.
The film presents the behind-the-scenes, effects and sacrifices of online censorship, which in fact turns out to be the ideal tool for controlling reality. High technical experts and network cleaners talk about the need and practice of such activities. It turns out that social media are negotiating with some countries access to materials critical of their governments. How is it possible that big online corporations, such as Facebook or Instagram with little or no responsibility to their clients today have the power that most countries could only dream of?
